Coversue insurance Newcastle helps Kielder charity win £10,000

Kielder-based charity, Calvert Trust, has won a £10,000 grant after a being nominated by valued supporters of the trust, Coversure Insurance Newcastle, for the Aviva Community Broker Fund.

The fund has now financed 283 projects across the UK. Guests and supporters of the Trust helped push the project into the final by securing 6,595 votes. The judge’s final decision was announced last week and Calvert Trust Kielder will receive the full £10,000.

Speaking after hearing the success of her nomination, Janet Fay, franchise holder at Coversure Newcastle, commented: “I was absolutely over the moon. I’ve been a supporter of Calvert Trust Kielder for over 7 years now and have witnessed first-hand the unbelievable work they do for the community; it was my pleasure to be able to help any way I could. As a local broker I share their values of giving back to the community. There couldn’t have been a more worthy recipient.”

Catherine Little, fundraising manager at Calvert Trust in Kielder, added: “We are so thrilled to have won and couldn’t have done it without the help of our incredible supporters and guests. The money will help bring hours of enjoyment to hundreds of people every year. We would like to say a special thank you to Janet and her team at Coversure Newcastle for entering Calvert Trust Kielder into the competition and helping to make this possible.”

The £10k will be spent on their ‘Freedom of the Lake’ project and will enable them to purchase a Sailability RS Venture Keel sailing boat. This valuable addition to their fleet will help disabled adults and children truly feel free on the lake.

Janet and her team at Coversure’s support for Calvert Trust will continue as they both look to expand their offering to the community.
