Cheshire business bags national award

A Cheshire handbag manufacturer has scooped a national award in recognition of its business prowess.

KeriKit, which will be exhibiting at The Ultimate Christmas Fair in Liverpool in November, has been named Small Business of the Week by Nick Brown, a business expert with a prime slot on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2.

Owner Keri Jamieson, from Pott Shrigley, Cheshire East, set up the company just nine months ago and said she was ‘honoured’ to have received such valuable recognition.

The mum-of-three said: “Because the company is so young, it’s an honour to be named small business of the week. I’m starting to see all my hard work pay off and can’t wait to see the business expand and be able to provide more and more women with stylish and practical products.”

40-year-old Keri received the award just a week after appearing on the Radio 2 show to discuss finding finance for new businesses.

Nick Brown said: “Keri has produced a wide range of innovative products, which have huge potential in the retail market. KeriKit is a small business with a unique idea and I’m thrilled to present them with my Small Business of the Week award.”

Following a 15-year career designing handbags for most of the major high street brands, Keri launched KeriKit to provide mothers – and busy women in general – with functional, high-quality and fashionable bags designed to make life easier.

With waiting lists growing and initial stock arriving at the end of July, Keri is expecting business to boom in the second half of 2015.

The year will be rounded off with an appearance at The Ultimate Christmas Fair, which takes place at Liverpool Exhibition Centre from 26 to 29 November, and KeriKit will be using the luxury shopping event to debut its new purses, make-up bags and cross-body bags.

Keri added: “I can’t wait to appear at The Ultimate Christmas Fair. It will be a fantastic opportunity to show off the range to excited Christmas shoppers, and will hopefully lead the business in to an even more eventful 2016.”
