New recruitment company to launch in Newcastle

The North East’s recruitment industry is set to welcome Edward Reed Recruitment as its latest addition, with the firm set to launch shortly in Newcastle city centre.

Headed up by Matt Cawood and Chris Stappard, the pair wish to consolidate a presence in the region before further developing UK wide expansion plans.

The duo come together from differing professional backgrounds assisting businesses in the selection of mid and senior management personnel across a number of key disciplines, including finance, HR, marketing, operations as well as supply chain.

Matt Cawood, who left the recruitment industry in 2011 in order to pursue a career in HR and management consultancy, has particular reasons for returning to a sector in which he spent over 14 years.

He said: “I had a wonderful time building a career in generalist recruitment, as well as executive search, across the UK and Germany. Then, having moved in-house to deliver HR projects, I also have first-hand experience as a hiring client and also been a candidate seeking new opportunities.

“On the whole I was amazed at the incredibly poor service the majority of recruiters offer, with not enough thought going into candidate selection for important roles and little or no feedback to candidates who had not been successful at interview stage.

“There really seems to be a culture of ‘over promise, under deliver’ across the recruitment industry. So, once I was offered the chance to come on board and help establish Edward Reed, alongside Chris and the team, I knew that we could do it better, do it right and really offer the levels of service the market deserves.”

Chris Stappard added: “I am really looking forward to building on the strong links to industry I have developed during my banking career and working with professional candidates across the region to help develop their careers here in the North East.

“Recruitment has appealed to me for some time and Edward Reed has exactly the customer values and philosophy I had in mind when considering a move into this industry.”
