Bradford mechanics keep on motoring for 120 years
Three local mechanics are retiring after motoring on at a Bradford truck and van dealership with a combined service of nearly 120 years.
Paul King (46 years of service), Chris Dibbin (45 years of service) and Ian Ramsden, who was with the firm for 28 years, were each awarded £50 in holiday vouchers for every year of service at the Legrams Lane based Northside Truck and Van, a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealership.
The retirees, who worked as vehicle technicians and parts advisers were rewarded for their loyalty to Northside which they put down to the comradery of the team and a supportive management system.
Dealer principal at Northside Truck and Van, Tim Ward, congratulated the trio on their loyal service. He said: “Our staff are the backbone of our business, Paul, Chris and Ian have made a significant impact on the team, our customer service and they will be certainly missed. They have each worked through different departments and supported over 80 apprentices through the years, being a constant guide and support.
“They’ve spent their working lives here at Legrams Lane and we wanted to recognize this. Both Paul and Chris who have worked at Northside for over 45 years, have been offered a unique opportunity to visit the Mercedes-Benz factory for a hospitality package along with the holiday vouchers. After years of working on our vehicles they can now see the other side of the manufacturing process which promises to be of real interest.”
Northside Truck & Van sells and supports the award-winning Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle and FUSO Canter light truck ranges from a network of Yorkshire branches in Bradford, Doncaster, Hull, Immingham, Leeds, Sheffield and York.
