Newcastle Racecourse partners with Handbag Clinic in time for Ladies Day
Newcastle-headquartered Handbag Clinic, a handbag repair service, has entered a partnership with Newcastle Racecourse, ahead of one of the North East’s most popular social events next week.
Handbag Clinic, which has a branch in Tyneside as well as a new store in London, will be setting up a pop-up emergency cleaning and repair stand at Newcastle Racecourse’s Collingwood Insurance Beeswing Ladies Day on Saturday, July 25, where glamorous outfits and perfectly co-ordinated bags and accessories are the order of the day.
Handbag Clinic will have a pop-up shop at the racecourse, with technicians on hand to rescue any bags at risk of long-lasting damage. Any racegoers who drop their bag in the dirt or spill Champagne on the leather or lining while celebrating a big win can head over to Handbag Clinic to have their accessory restored back to pristine condition.
While Handbag Clinic will be on hand to help with cleaning and stain removal, the technicians can also provide advice about more extensive repairs for bags which have become faded and torn or which have deeper staining.
Ben Staerck, managing director of Handbag Clinic, says that Ladies Day is an ideal platform to showcase the business. He said: “Ladies Day is very much associated with style and glamour, and having that perfect handbag to complete a look is all part of the preparation that goes into getting ready for such a major social occasion.
“Handbag Clinic was set up in response to style conscious ladies wanting to keep their much valued handbags in pristine condition. During Ladies Day our specialist team will be on hand to carry out any minor repairs or to remove any stains from spillages and such like.
“It will also be a great showcase for the business; having opened our store on London’s Kings Road a few months ago we’re keen to further build our profile here in the North East.”
Handbag Clinic launched in summer 2013 and was borne out of Furniture Clinic, a leather cleaning and repair business set up by Ben’s father Keith Staerck, following an increase in the volume of requests to repair and restore high value designer handbags.
David Williamson, executive director at Newcastle Racecourse, said: “The Collingwood Insurance Beeswing Ladies Day is one of the most popular social occasions of the year, and with the Best Dressed Lady title at stake, there will be glamour in abundance and no shortage of designer handbags making an appearance.
“Handbag Clinic is a fantastic concept and we’re delighted to have them in attendance for Ladies Day to provide emergency cleaning and repairs, I’m sure they’ll be a real hit. It’s great that other local businesses can benefit from the profile of our racedays and I hope they’re kept busy on the day and see the benefits of the exposure to some 20,000 people for a long time afterwards.”
Earlier this year, the complementary business launched its first dedicated cleaning and repair boutique in the heart of Chelsea, where it has quickly established a high profile client base including Daily Mail columnist Liz Jones and TV personalities Imogen Thomas and Stephanie Pratt.
North East ladies looking to book their prized handbags in for a ‘spa’ treatment can visit the Newcastle based outfit located in Burnopfield and the business has plans to open a boutique in Newcastle in the near future. Both Handbag Clinic and Furniture Clinic also have a mail order service available.
