Gateshead’s energy company GEC marks third anniversary with expansion plans
Green Energy Consulting, an independent commercial energy consultancy, is marking its third year in business with both staff and office expansion plans following sustained growth.
Established in 2012 by a team of two directors, the Gateshead-based company specialises in renewable electricity and gas designed to help save the business sector time, energy and money. However, the company’s services are not strictly just for businesses, as it also works with clients from various organisations and charities too.
Green Energy Consulting’s turnover has quadrupled to half a million pounds in the last year, employing a total of 22 people - almost half of which are a product of the firm’s graduate scheme, supported by North East universities.
Now, the consultancy has devised a 6-9 month plan to increase staff numbers to approximately 50 members, creating jobs in all departments of the company.
Due to the success of Green Energy Consulting’s services, the company has relocated from its original office, situated within one of Gateshead’s first redeveloped railway arches.
The company have identified the great potential in the former headquarters of Autotrader North East, which is their new 2,500ft² base of operation.
Peter McGirr, Director of Green Energy Consulting, said: “It’s our third anniversary and we’re really proud of that. We have always had a long-term vision for Green Energy Consulting and we are looking forward to what the future holds.”
