This week’s North East appointments

David Caley, The Botanist

Newcastle city centre bar and restaurant venue The Botanist has appointed David Caley as a new manager. David, from Newcastle, is very familiar with the local food and hospitality scene in Newcastle having worked in the city centre for 6 years.

David said: “It’s an ideal time to be coming on board with The Botanist as it looks ahead to the next six months – and of course, a lively first summer before that. I’ve already trained in Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle with the company so am looking forward to bringing what I can to the fantastic team that is in place here.”

Lee Stamp, PwC

Following PwC’s move to Central Square South in February, the firm is continuing to invest in the region with the promotion of a new equity partner and three directors to its North East practice.

Lee Stamp joined the partnership on 1 July having been promoted from director. He has been with PwC in Newcastle for the last 12 years, leading the firm’s personal tax practice. He acts for a wide range of clients across the North East, the UK and internationally, advising them on their business, family trust and charitable interests. In addition, Susan McNair, David Hammal and Gareth Marshall have all been promoted to director.

Sue Matthews and Raluca Lotrean, Maersk

Maersk Training has strengthened its team with two appointments to support operations at its Newcastle headquarters. Sue Matthews has been appointed to the role of Training and Business Support Coordinator. Sue has extensive experience within a training environment including managing bookings, coordinating facilities and trainers and during her time at Maersk (she originally joined the company as a receptionist).

Raluca Lotrean has joined Maersk Training as a Bookings and Admin Support Apprentice and for the next 12 months she will be supporting numerous departments as part of her training. She was introduced to Maersk via the intraining programme at Newcastle College.

Gavin Peacock and Martyn Lamb, Dräger

International safety and medical solutions provider, Dräger, has promoted a long-standing member of the team to the role of marketing manager for plant safety operations (PSO) and application driven markets (ADM).

Gavin Peacock takes on the new role after more than 11 years at the company. Originally from Lancashire, Gavin joined Dräger as a technical specialist after studying electrical and electronic engineering at Northumbria University. Gavin said: “I’m very proud to be stepping into this new role at Dräger. It’s a great company to work for. I’ve been here since I left university over 11 years ago and I really believe in what Dräger does – engineering technology which protects lives.”

Martyn Lamb has been appointed as a new marketing manager for the fire service segment. He brings a wealth of experience having worked in the fields of quality engineering, manufacturing and project engineering, production and product management for more than 15 years.

In his new role at Dräger, Martyn has responsibility for UK product portfolio management on new products and services for the fire and rescue sector.Speaking about his new role, Martyn said: “I’ve worked for Dräger for around six years in total and I’m delighted to be taking on this exciting new challenge, to support the company’s business growth plans.”
