Revealed: Proposals to transform iconic Millbank Tower into residential development
Developers have unveiled plans to transfer the iconic Millbank office tower in London into a residential development complete with a new luxury hotel and a leisure centre.
Owned by David and Simon Reuben, the skyscraper, which was the tallest in the city when it was built 50 years ago, would be extended three floors upwards, creating 210 new apartments.
The redevelopment, which would also include neighbouring 30 Millbank, would feature a new luxury hotel and a leisure centre.
Several of the suites in Millbank tower are currently occupied by the likes of Environment Agency, the UK India Business Council, World First and the Audit Commission.
In a statement on the Millbank Tower Proposals website, the developer said: “Millbank Tower and complex are Grade II listed buildings sitting in an area rich with history and heritage, adjacent to several conservation areas and a stone’s throw from the Houses of Parliament and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Parliament Square.
“We neighbour the renowned Tate Britain art gallery and nearby Chelsea School of Art so we believe our proposed addition of a culture centre, as a key part of our proposals, can confirm the north bank of the Thames as an enriched arts and culture destination.”
