BHP’s Gareth Peckett with Chris Wood of Clough Corporate Solutions.

Regional corporate recovery specialists complete merger

Two leading Yorkshire corporate recovery specialists have completed a merger after their parent companies teamed up earlier this year to form one of the UK’s largest independent chartered accountancy practices.

In April, BHP and Clough & Company merged to create a regional accounting giant with six offices across Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, with more than 270 staff and revenues approaching £18m.

Three months later and the firm’s corporate recovery divisions completed their own independent merger.

Clough Corporate Solutions, led by Chris Wood, has merged with BHP’s Business Recovery and Insolvency team which is managed by Gareth Peckett.

Now known as BHP Clough Corporate Solutions, the team specialises in guiding businesses through all types of financial problems.

John Warner, managing partner at BHP, said: “We’re delighted to complete this additional merger. Both corporate recovery teams have a wealth of experience in some very niche areas within their sector, so they complement each other perfectly. There is no doubt this union will significantly increase their appeal with both new and existing clients.”

Nigel Bullas, managing partner at BHP Clough & Company, added: “In the months following the main merger, all areas of the business and our clients are already seeing the benefits of our strengthened position in Yorkshire, as well as gaining from the enhanced range of services and expertise we now offer.

“There will always be demand in the market for independent operators, where clients enjoy a very personal service and foster strong relationships. When this is combined with the size and depth of our newly formed team, it gives us a very compelling and unrivalled offering that creates a valuable asset for businesses throughout the region and beyond.”
