Winn Solicitors Award Northumbria University Law Students Prizes

Newcastle-based Winn Solicitors awarded three Northumbria University Law students who recently graduated prizes for their performance in Civil Litigation.

The ceremony, part of the 2015 Academic Congregations and Prize Giving, took place at Northumbria Law School. The prizewinners were awarded cash, and a unique opportunity to start their career with work experience placements at the solicitors.

Students were those who received the highest mark in their final Civil Litigation assessment and generally top performers of their course. MLaw student Ria Frances Wilkinson, along with LPC students Alastair Naismith and Adele Jepson won the award.

Winn Solicitors have a longstanding partnership with Northumbria University, and actively seek graduates looking for their first step onto the career ladder. Trainee Solicitor Nikita Bos was offered work experience.with Winn Solicitors in 2012 through Northumbria University, and then joined the firm on completion of her placement. After starting her career as a Legal Clerk, she quickly moved up to the Low Velocity Impact Team and began her training contract in 2014. Since starting her training contract with Winns, she moved on to the Vehicle Damage Department before being promoted to the Litigation Team earlier this year.

Recognising talent similar to her own, Nikita said: “Congratulations to Adele, Alastair and Ria who won the award this year. As a result of my overall degree results, I was awarded a work placement with Winn Solicitors in 2012. This provided me with an opportunity to gain practical legal experience which ultimately resulted in a full time position as a Legal Clerk. Since the start of my employment with Winn Solicitors, my career has gone from strength to strength. I am currently in the last few months of my training contract, and I am enjoying the challenges that working in the firm’s litigation department brings. The support and supervision from senior members of the Winns team has been fantastic, and I look forward to a long career with the company.”
