Bindatex investment helps company boom
Bindatex – Europe’s only independent provider of precision cutting services to the composites sector – is calling on other SMEs to investigate funding opportunities following a string of investments to expand the business.
Since its launch in 2004, Bolton-based Bindatex has received almost £200,000 in investment to fund its expansion into growing markets, the latest boost of support being a £120,000 grant awarded to the company by the Regional Growth Fund’s Textile Growth Programme.
Chris Lever, managing director at Bindatex, said: “The financial support Bindatex has received, particularly in the last couple of years, has been of paramount importance in developing the business.
“We’re poised to move to larger premises, recruit more staff and the company is set to achieve a turnover of over £1 million in the next couple of years – all of which I know would not be the case had we not applied for funding, and I encourage start ups and other SMEs to do the same.”
Bindatex’s unique ability to cut laminate and composite materials to tight tolerances and store them appropriately, while being well-positioned to supply Europe, has made it an attractive recipient for investment bodies keen to bolster the UK’s manufacturing sector.
Further funding received by Bindatex – which started out as a supplier of pre-cut textiles and papers to the bookbinding trade – includes an £18,000 investment by Innovate UK, which allowed the company to develop its technology and broaden the scope for business within the aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, wind energy, motorsport and nuclear industries.
With the help of funding, Bindatex is also able to invest further in its workforce, with the company continuing to capitalise on government training and development initiatives, while taking advantage of Leadership, Management and Growth Accelerator training.
As part of the Textiles Growth Programme, Bindatex plans to employ and train three to four apprentices in the next two years, in both administrative and production roles.
Chris added: “Because of the involvement in state-of-the-art, high-value manufacturing, on-the-job training and personnel development is of high importance to all company employees. I’m thrilled to be able to offer my staff such a high level of training, while ensuring continued expansion and innovation thanks to the funding we’ve had the fortune of being awarded.”
