Blackburn Rovers FC strengthens local ties with new deal
Lancashire-based accountancy firm PM+M has been chosen by Blackburn Rovers FC as the club’s new tax compliance and audit adviser.
The Blackburn-based firm, which offers wealth management services, will also be supporting the club’s parent company, Venky’s London Limited, with advisory services as and when they are required.
David Gorton, a partner and head of corporate services at PM+M, said of the deal: “We are delighted to be working with Blackburn Rovers FC once again - especially as it’s a local institution and many of our staff members are lifelong Rovers fans. Our focus is now firmly on providing a first-class service to the club and being part of its future.”
David is set to head the PM+M team in its work with Blackburn Rovers FC, with support from PM+M manager Neil Jones, tax manager Julie Walsh and audit senior Ceri Jones.
PM+M previously worked with the football club for a number of decades until Venky’s London Limited’s auditor, international professional services firm KPMG, was appointed in 2011.
Blackburn Rovers’ finance director, Mike Cheston, commented: “Blackburn Rovers is committed to engaging with the community and that includes building commercial ties with businesses in the town.
“The club and PM+M go back a long way so this appointment was a natural fit for us.”
