Aspire expands with 14 new starters

A LEADING IT company has dramatically expanded its headcount to cope with an increase in customers and orders.

Aspire Technology Solutions, based at Heworth Hall in Gateshead, has recruited 14 new members of staff to take its number of employees to 72.

The company specialises in connectivity, managed services and infrastructure solutions and started as a two-man operation in 2006. Since then expansion has been rapid, with record year-on-year results leading to regional and national recognition for the company’s impressive growth rate.

Managing Director Nigel Begg commented: “We’re delighted to be creating exciting career opportunities for so many people, and the influx of new faces has given Heworth Hall an extra buzz.

“The numbers involved are testament to our success in attracting new clients and keeping our current customers not just well serviced, but delighted. Our retention rate remains 98 per cent.

“Most of our new starters are in our support department, but we’ve also added two more people to our customer services team and one to our internal development team. Through a restructure of our support staff, we’ve also brought in new team leaders with bags of experience and talent,” added Nigel.

“This expansion is part of our long-term growth strategy and we’re confident that the increase in numbers will ensure we can provide our customers with the levels of care and support that they need. However, we’re constantly analysing feedback and if the need for further recruitment is there, we’ll not hesitate to start recruiting again.

“The IT industry is a competitive market for recruitment, but we have a reputation for looking after and developing our staff so we don’t have a problem with finding the right people.

“Once here, we work hard to give people every chance of promotion, encouraging them to take extra qualifications and then paying for exams – we even incentivise staff for passing their exams.

“Our new Aspire Academy is very much part of this strategy and is aimed at training people in the ‘Aspire way,’ and is already helping to attract people.”

Although the majority of new starters have experience in the IT industry, Aspire has also recruited two apprentices through Baltic Training Services.

Aspire has key sites in the North East and London and last year entered The Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table for the first time. In 2014 the company recorded an increase in turnover of almost 60 per cent, and predicted further growth of at least 25 per cent for the current financial year.
