PwC triumphant in Manchester Professionals Cricket League
Cricket teams from PwC and NCC Group came out on top at this year’s Manchester Professionals Cricket League (MPCL) Final.
Organised by Sellick Partnership and sponsored by Spire Manchester, the tournament came to a head with PwC winning the prestigious Cup competition, and NCC Group taking the top spot in the Plate competition whilst holding back fierce competition.
The MPCL was founded by finance and legal recruitment specialist Sellick Partnership in 2009, and has raised close to £50,000 to-date prior to the 2015 league. The line-up included teams from Manchester’s leading businesses.
Commenting on the cup competition win, team Captain Ali Qasim of PwC said: “Playing in the Manchester Professionals Cricket League for the first year – and winning – has been a great experience.
“Through playing in this league we have had the chance to network with some of our clients and grow our relationships with potential clients. Sellick Partnership has done a great job in organising the tournament and we’re already looking forward to playing next year.”
On his team’s win of the Plate award, Paul Allen of NCC Group commented: “We’d like to thank Sellick Partnership for a superbly organised cricket finals day. We thoroughly enjoyed the day, not just because we won the plate final but because of the team spirit and sportsmanship that was displayed by all of the teams.
“We are already looking forward to next year’s league, and defending our trophy.”
The final amount raised will be announced later this year at the Awards Lunch in October. This year proceeds will be going to the St Ann’s Hospice and Lord’s Taverners charities.
