Cycling Challenge For Car Dealership
Family owned and run local car dealership, Wrexham Volkswagen, part of Swansway group, is cycling hard to raise funds for their charity of the year, Wrexham based, Empowering Youth Foundation (EYF).
Ffion Jones, Fundraising Officer for the charity, explained, “EYF is a youth development organisation we teach, what we believe, are invaluable life skills to children through the medium of golf and we’ve had immense success. Our life skill programmes are based on nine core values inherent in the game of golf; including honesty, integrity and sportsmanship, matching the Swansway values of caring, honest and proud”.
Gavin Prigmore, Business Manager at the centre, came up with idea of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats, while staying firmly put in the dealership, Gavin explains, “Having a young daughter myself, I always want to give kids, who need it, a helping hand and when Total Fitness came to the party lending us their exercise bikes I was raring to go”!
Gavin and the dealership team will be attempting to cycle the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 24 hours, so the dealership will remain open throughout the night! There will be a delicious home-made bake sale and the staff will be cheered on by Wrexham Fans FC, also sponsored by Wrexham Volkswagen.
“We would really love local people to come down to the dealership, starting from 2pm on Wednesday 12 August we hope to be finishing some time on Thursday 13 August and would love to raise as much money as we possibly can for this fabulous local charity”
Gavin added, “We are looking for a plucky local band or dance troop to come down and make some noise to keep us all awake and raring to go during the small hours of Thursday morning”. If you can help with this then please call Gavin on 01978 229400.
