Decathlon partner with City of Salford 10K

~~Europe’s leading sportswear and equipment retailer, Decathlon, has announced that it will be the Official Title Sponsor at this year’s City of Salford 10K, when it returns to the city on Sunday 6 September 2015.

Following on from the success of the Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K last month, Decathlon has teamed up with Sports Tours International again to become the title sponsor of one of the North West’s most popular 10K races.

Decathlon will have a presence on the day at the event, which will follow a route around MediaCityUK and Salford Quays.

Alex Jones from Decathlon Stockport commented: “The atmosphere and community spirit amongst the runners and spectators at the We Love Manchester 10k was fantastic, so we welcomed the opportunity to get involved with the City of Salford 10K.

“These events are the perfect match for Decathlon. The inclusive nature and the positive community impact they generate through raising money for good causes echoes the Decathlon brand values. Our purpose of ‘making sport accessible to the many’ is realised through these events and we are pleased to be a part of them.”

The first 3 people over the finish line will win a cash prize; £250 for the winner, £150 for second place and £75 for third place. The run also includes chip timing, a medal and commemorative technical t-shirt given to all finishers.

Reubens Retreat, the Greater Manchester charity set up to support seriously ill children and their families, is this year’s official charity partner. Runners can also raise money for their chosen charity.

Sixt UK will again be the Official Vehicle Supplier and Nature Valley will supply snack bars for each of the winners.
