Coda celebrates year of growth with expansion plans
AWARD winning Sheffield architectural practice Coda Studios and its subsidiaries Coda Planning and Coda Structures are celebrating after seeing turnover almost double in the past 12 months.
With projects worth over £200 million currently in the pipeline both regionally and nationally, Managing Director David Cross says the Coda brand is now working on developments delivering around £600 million of GVA to the economy.
The company currently has a workforce of 26 across its two sites and now there are plans to expand into the North West with a Coda Manchester scheduled to open this autumn, which will take staffing levels up to 30.
Coda is also currently in talks for the acquisition of another South Yorkshire architectural practice, a deal that is expected to be concluded in the next few weeks.
“The past 12 months have been incredibly successful for us and we are extremely confident that the next year will see even further growth,” said David.
“Coda Planning, under director Adam Murray, is now three years old and, in line with Coda Studios growth, has doubled its trade in the past year with a raft of both local and national planning success stories.
“It has been a similar success story for Coda Structures, under director Henry Freeman, a new and integral part of our suite of services working alongside our architects and technicians to deliver anything from small bespoke projects to large scale mixed-use developments.
“We are proud to say that, across all three divisions, we now have a client base that takes us from Majorca to Manchester while at a local level a range of major residential and commercial developments is forming the heart of the Kelham Island and Shalesmoor regeneration.
“Equally importantly, though, we also have three major schemes coming to fruition in Manchester, which will raise our profile in the north west just as we are about to open our new offices in Manchester city centre.”
David added that he believed Coda’s successful growth was built on the fact that the three arms of the company are offering a more diverse range of services than ever before.
“Our growth from 2013 to 2014 was mainly local but now we are seeing even more activity on the national level and especially in the north west,” he said.
“It was always our business plan to capture the three main cities of the northern power hub – Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester – and this is the year that we see that plan become a reality.
“It has taken hard work and dedication from the whole Coda team to get us to this level but with some fantastic projects to be delivered in the coming months the only way is up!”
