Music tuition centre launches in Blackburn

Entrepreneurial musicians from Blackburn have transformed a former clothes shop in the town into a centre for local performers.

McNally Music Tuition, which opened its doors in July, spans three floors and offers five practise rooms. Four full-time teachers are based at the centre, providing tuition in disciplines such as singing, guitar, piano and drums.

Owner Philip McNally said: “The music tuition project, which started around 18 months ago, aims to bring discounted music lessons to Blackburn with the emphasis being put on a fun learning experience.

“The project also intends to turn the centre into a creative hub for musicians to socialise as this is not something widely available in the town.”

McNally Music Tuition has also teamed up with exam boards Rockschool and ABRSM for those wanting to study music grades.

Harriet Roberts is the manager of the Blackburn BID, where the new company is located. She commented: “Having such an interesting business in the centre of the town is another step towards having a thriving mix of businesses, shops and restaurants.

“The centre is also based in the Sudell Cross area where many other new businesses are being supported by the BID.”

The firm now plans to hold an open day at the upcoming Heritage Festival, to be held by the Blackburn BID on Saturday, September 12.
