Orbit team runs for cancer charity

The big-hearted team at Orbit Developments, Stockport’s largest commercial property landlord, is running to support cancer charity Beechwood Cancer Care at Life Leisure’s Big Stockport Run, which returns for a fourth year.

Orbit Developments is the headline sponsor of the event, and is entering two teams, who will join the hundreds of other runners on course through Stockport on Sunday September 20th.

Leading ‘Team Orbit’ is keen runner Claire Stott, Marketing Manager at Orbit Developments.

A member of Stockport running club, Bramhall Runners, Claire has raised over £1,000 for charity running in some of the region’s most popular races. She said: “I’m thrilled that so many of my colleagues are lacing up their trainers for the run and raising money for such a good cause.

“Events like this have a fantastic atmosphere and help showcase what Stockport has to offer. We want the Stockport community to come out and support the race, even if they aren’t running.”

Other members of Team Orbit are Rhys Owen, Lee Egerton, Ben Hey, Paul Fleming, Alex Wong, Paul McLeman, Irene McLeman, Glenn Savage, Lorraine Taylor.

Tony Jones, Managing Director of Orbit Developments said: “After the success of last year’s run we are thrilled to be supporting this great local event again. We believe that businesses should support their local community and we love that this is an event for everyone, whether they are a serious runner or just coming along to have some fun. We are entering our Orbit Developments teams again this year, and I wish them all the best of luck in raising much needed funds for an important cause.”

Angela Gray, Fundraising Manager at Beechwood commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Orbit to benefit from their team effort in Life Leisure 10k. Everyone at Beechwood will be cheering them on. We can’t thank them enough.”

The Big 10km Run starts at 10am, advance booking costs £15 per person, and £13 for UKA affiliated athletes. Team entry is £50 for a team of 5. The Big 1km run starts at 10.15am - £5 per entry.
