Keyland and Rouse Homes seek approval for Richmond residential development
Whashton Road in Richmond, North Yorkshire, may become the location of 22 new family homes.
Keyland Development Ltd and Rouse Homes Ltd have submitted a planning application plans for the housing development to Richmondshire District Council.
The proposals, which include Keyland as landowner and Rouse Homes Ltd as developer, intend to regenerate a redundant site with prime frontage on to Whashton Road into a high quality residential development in order to assist the Council’s requirements for new local housing provision to meet high demand in the area.
The North Richmond site, approximately 2.5 acres, is a redundant service reservoir which is no longer required for operational purposes.
Featuring the Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club to the north of the site, the former Richmond Racecourse to the west and adjacent housing to the east, the site has been identified as prime for a low density residential development to contribute to the long-term regeneration and sustainability of the town.
Keyland and Rouse Homes Ltd’s proposals include a mix of market and affordable 3, 4 and 5 bedroom detached and semi-detached family homes set around a central square and sensitively designed to be in-keeping with the local area.
The development will incorporate a significant landscaping scheme around the site perimeter and also within its boundaries.
Peter Garrett, managing director of Keyland Developments Ltd, said: “There is a recognised requirement for new homes within the Richmond area and the proposals have the potential to bring back into use a redundant site to make a positive and much-needed contribution to these long-term housing needs. Due to its scale and positioning within an established suburban and residential setting, the site is ideally suited to accommodating new homes and by working with Rouse Homes Ltd, we can facilitate a sensitively-designed, high quality scheme to complement the locality.”
Rouse Homes Ltd has a proven track record of delivering high quality residential developments across Yorkshire’s towns and suburbs.
Tony Watling, managing director at Rouse Homes Ltd, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Keyland to address the housing requirements within North Richmond. We are confident that these proposals will be a welcome addition to the local area.”
