Scott Logic set to surpass recruitment targets despite nationwide downturn
Scott Logic has welcomed 60 new members to its team in 2015, surpassing its plans to boost staff numbers by 90 by the end of the year.
The Newcastle-headquartered company, which offers bespoke software solutions to clients across the globe, is on track to make its 10th year in business the best one yet after expanding into new premises and outperforming recruitment targets.
The software development consultancy has prospered its way through the Eurozone debt crisis by focusing its 2015 activity on the UK market.
Scott Logic has seen significant growth despite the slowing of the UK technology sector in the second quarter of 2015. According to the latest KPMG/Markit Tech Monitor UK survey, the pace of expansion in the sector was the weakest since 2013.
However, like Scott Logic, the UK technology industry is optimistic about the year ahead as 57 per cent of businesses in the survey expect to see an increase in activity in the coming months.
In addition, almost half of the businesses asked said they expected a boost to staff numbers in the next two quarters.
Scott Logic’s managing director, Gary Scott said: “Our strategy this year has been to really focus on our home market, especially given the weakness in the Euro and lack of confidence across Europe. We’ve also been able to leverage the opening of a new and rapidly expanding office in Soho, London.
“This has enabled us to further enhance our portfolio not only in financial services and capital markets, but also in new areas such as energy trading and wealth management. It’s important to some of our UK-based clients that we are able to resource their projects with talented people who operate from a UK base and fully understand their market.”
In addition to gaining contracts with British-based enterprises so far during 2015, Scott Logic has outgrown its Bristol office, moving to larger city centre premises less than three months after expanding into London.
Gary added: “It continues to be an exciting time for us with experienced and high calibre technology professionals continuing to join Scott Logic. The second half of the year is shaping up to be just as energetic.”
