West Yorkshire entrepreneurs join forces to open ‘business’ coffee shop
A brand new coffee shop that offers ideal destination for business lunches and informal business meetings has been opened by a group of Brighouse business owners.
Located at the town’s new Thornhill Brigg Mills office development, Big Shots Coffee Co was officially opened 19 August by Calderdale MP Craig Whittaker.
More than 200 business people, clients and local councillors attended the launch of the new coffee shop off Thornhill Briggs Lane, which spans 500 sq ft and fitted with meeting essentials including phone chargers, spare stationary and free Wi-Fi.
Following Mr Whittaker MP cutting the ribbon, guests sampled a selection of sandwiches, salads and cakes that will be available at the café from locally sourced suppliers.
Big Shots was spearheaded by a collective of local businesses which include Sleigh & Story Accountants, Faith PR, Yorkshire Payments, Henderson Property and Hebden Bridge based painting pottery cafe Flying Saucers. Between them, the businesses have scooped nine Brighouse Echo Business Awards.
The launch event marked the end of a 12 month redevelopment period of the previously derelict 218 year old former textile mill, which was converted into an office complex after being acquired by Henderson Property in summer 2014.
Carl Hopkins, Faith PR director and Big Shots partner, said: “Opening Big Shots has allowed us to create two new jobs for people from the local area, and we also plan to recruit more staff when the business is up and running. We believe it will become a real hub of activity and an asset to the business community in Brighouse.”
Graeme Henderson of Big Shots partner of Henderson Property, and Big Shots partner, added: “Having overseen the redevelopment of Thornhill Brigg Mill since last summer, it is fantastic that the building is now restored to its former glory. What’s more, Big Shots provides a space where we can now welcome other local people and businesses to develop ideas and relationships over a delicious cup of coffee!”
