Manchester taxi firm on the move

Street Cars, Manchester’s largest private hire taxi firm, has moved into new premises having secured £840,000 funding from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Set up in 2002 with just two cars, it now employs more than 450 cars and 65 call operators and support staff. Street Cars moved into its new headquarters, a six storey property on Chorlton Street.

The business has accounts with more than 1,000 businesses in the hospitality sector and has hired more than 50 staff in the last year to deal with growing demand.

Rapid growth meant the firm needed more space. Its new premises are five times bigger than its previous location on Sackville Street, providing space for a growing workforce, a new training facility for office staff and drivers and the firm’s account relationship team which looks after hospitality business customers.

The firm’s Managing Director Naeem Arshad said: “The extra room will enable us to continue to build the business and gain new relationships with hotels and restaurants across Manchester.

“Lloyds Bank saw our vision from the start and has helped us to achieve our business goals.”

Street Cars moved into the new building in July following a full refurbishment costing £500,000, also supported by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
