Jewellery brand adding lustre to Preston’s retail centre
Luxury jewellery brand Swarovski is to open a flagship store for Lancashire store in St George’s Shopping Centre, Preston.
The retailer, famed for its crystals, will occupy a 1,000 sq ft unit located on the upper mall in the shopping centre, close to Pandora, New Look and Ernest Jones.
The unit will be refitted to showcase the brand’s range, which includes jewellery, accessories, ornaments, and figurines.
General manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “This is great news for St George’s, for Preston and for shoppers as an international brand comes to the city.
“By attracting retailers such as Swarovski we are not only strengthening our position as Preston’s dominant retail destination but further demonstrating St George’s ability to attract leading global brands to boost our own, and indeed the city’s retail attraction.
“We already have a strong mix of jewellers in St George’s and this strengthens the offering. It’s another reason for shoppers to come into Preston and not have to travel further afield for the brands they want.
“Preston is seeing a real improvement in confidence from both the consumer and businesses as the economy improves.”
John Banks of George Banks jewellers, Preston, will be the franchisee of the new boutique.
He said: “The new shop will look fantastic, the layout will look very fresh and modern. It is a bonus for the shopping centre and shoppers.
“St George’s is the best shopping area in Preston and this shop will work very well in there.
“Swarovski is a family business with a great heritage. The products don’t date and are supported with regular new collection launches. The brand has a growing online fan base but there is nothing better than seeing the jewellery in real life.”
