Lancashire energy software company partners with Scottish consortium

Utiligroup, the Lancashire business which provides software and services to the energy and utilities industry, has been appointed by Scottish housing consortium Our Power.

Our Power, a non-profit organisation, consists of 35 Scottish housing providers and local authorities. The consortium is based in Edinburgh and aims to introduce satellite offices across Scotland.

It plans to be selling heat and power to tenants in 200,000 homes across Scotland by 2020.

The consortium expects to save its members up to 10% on their household utility bills, compared with standard commercial tariffs.

It will enter the market at the end of 2015 as an Ofgem-licensed supplier of gas and electricity.

Chorley-based Utiligroup will be providing its “Supplier in a Box” software and managed services to Our Power. The services will enable the Scottish consortium to enter the market and supply it with state-of-the-art data systems to manage customer growth.

The appointment is the latest from a string of “challengers” which have appointed Utiligroup to assist them, as they enter the energy market. It works with several new energy providers, including Neas Energy, GnErgy and Tempus Energy.

The company plans to go live in December 2015, providing social housing providers across Scotland with more efficient customer service, tariffs that are easier to navigate and cheaper bills.

Our Power is backed by £2.5 million from the Scottish government and another £1 million from Social Investment Scotland.
