Record success for Manchester United Adidas kit launch
Adidas and Manchester United have confirmed that their recent partnership launch has been the most successful in the histories of both the club and brand.
The new ten-year-deal with Adidas has already broken records for first day sales and first week launch, with figures in club channels (Megastore at Old Trafford and online store) that delivered over a month’s worth of forecasted sales within the first five days.
Adidas says that many of its global partners have had a 200% record increase in first day sales compared to last year’s kit launch, with a massive demand across the globe for Adidas 15-16 Manchester United kit.
Adidas says it has been the biggest ever launch of replica kit.
Richard Arnold, Managing Director, Manchester United, said: “Partnering with Adidas, we had high expectations; quality innovative kit, superb marketing, world beating distribution, a deep understanding of our history and our fans.
“Adidas have not broken those expectations, they have smashed them. The kit has resonated with our fans, both with its nod to our history and the quality of its construction.
“We already have further exciting and iconic developments ahead and like our fans, I am excited about the next decade, on and off the pitch.”
The Adidas Store in Manchester city centre has also experienced a huge turnover within one week.
The launch also saw the campaign ‘break expectations’ around fan engagement across both Adidas and club channels.
The campaign was launched at midnight in Manchester on August 1 with a film that has quickly become the most shared from the brand this year, with more than two million views.
The campaign trended globally on Twitter, via the club and Adidas accounts, as well as those of players Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The club is due to launch its new third kit later this month.
