Anniversary can provide golden moment for Bristol charities

Charities and community groups in Bristol will have the chance to build a brighter future after a competition was launched to give away £2,000 worth of building materials.

Leading builders merchants Selco Builders Warehouse will next month be celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Bristol branch, which is based on Sheene Way in Bedminster.

To mark the occasion, Selco is running a competition to provide £2,000 worth of building materials for one lucky charity or community group in the Bristol area and is now appealing for nominations.

They can be made by filling in a form on the Selco website, www.selcobw.com/bristol20, with charities and community groups asked to detail in no more than 100 words why they would be deserving winners of the materials.

Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Wednesday, September 9.

Chris Cunliffe, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse and a former branch manager at the Bristol branch, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for charities and community groups in Bristol as we look to celebrate the branch’s 20th anniversary.

“As a company, we are very proud to have a chance to make a huge difference to a charity or community group and we look forward to receiving entries.”

As part of Selco’s celebrations, prices on key products are being rolled back to those in 1995 when the Bristol branch opened.

He said: “We are delighted to peg prices back to 1995 levels, giving customers some generous savings on popular products.”

The Bristol branch offers an extensive range of building materials, drainage, roofing, heating, plumbing and electrical products, a range of timber including a bespoke cutting service, doors and windows, ironmongery and fixings, decorating supplies, landscaping and fencing items as well as kitchen and bathroom showrooms plus Selco’s latest new initiative tool and plant hire.

There is also an in-branch café, trade services, direct-to-site delivery options and van size parking spaces, all designed to make it easier for tradespeople to get onto the job as soon as possible.
