Hull specialist contractor £100k investment leads to new contracts
Precision Drilling has secured a range of new construction and demolition contracts in multiple sectors across the country due to further investment.
The Hull-based specialist contractor has invested £100k in new equipment, machinery, vehicles and business development, which has contributed to contract wins in education, marine and ports, renewables and retail projects.
Ian Wilkinson, managing director, said: “Since purchasing Precision Drilling in 2013, we have invested more than a £250,000 in totally overhauling our operations with the purchase of new capital equipment, employing and training additional staff and a host of other marketing and accreditation growth measures.
“In the last six months alone we have purchased new equipment, vehicles and facilities, including £82,000 for four new vehicles including Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit vans.”
Backed by Green Port Growth, £25k has been injected in the form of new equipment including a new ring saw, pre-cut saw, power pack, wet vacs, generators and drill motors.
Mr Wilkinson added: “This stage of our expansion and growth has been very successful in bringing in new contracts in the Humber and increasingly further afield.
Precision Drilling has completed dock and portside work in Grimsby, at the Port of Grimsby East and Royal Dock, in Hull at Albert Dock, King George Dock, Queen Elizabeth Dock and the former Ruscadors dry dock.
Mr Wilkinson said: “This has been a mixture of flood works, new build, demolition, lock gate repair and replacement.”
On the Grimsby docks, Precision Drilling was sub-contracted to an international supply and installation contractor to provide concrete drilling, demolition, concreting and grouting work as part of an £11m investment by Associated British Ports.
In addition, a Precision Drilling team has reinforced the docks at Sheerness, Kent, and at Purfleet, Essex, anchor fixing new steel plates for vessel buffers, plus drilling, sawing and demolition.
Other recent contracts include working with the Brigg and Drax power stations, and the Atwick and Theddlethorpe gas storage facilities; as well as Leeds Beckett University, the Printworks Campus of Leeds City College and the University of Hull; plus Flemingate shopping centre in Beverley and Sainsbury’s in south London.
The Wyke Street business company, which also has operates out of Leeds, has an annual turnover of £500k and employs 10 staff, including seven fully skilled drilling and sawing employees.
