Charity bids for share of M&S Energy Fund

Northumberland Wildlife Trust has launched a campaign calling for people of the region to support it after being shortlisted for a national renewable community energy project competition.

The wildlife charity is hoping to secure £6,500 for the photovoltaic panels in its new Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funded Wildlife Discovery Centre which is currently under construction on its Hauxley nature reserve at Druridge Bay. On course to be the greenest building in the North East, if successful, the PV panels will provide the building with sufficient energy to run the entire building.

M & S Energy launched the M & S Energy Community Fund earlier this summer, with up to £400,000 being made available to support community renewable energy projects and technologies across the UK.

Following the initial shortlisting phase, the competition is now open to the public vote and Northumberland Wildlife Trust now wants your support and is encouraging everybody to get online and vote for the project before Wednesday 30 September at: www.mandsenergyfund.com/project/28324
