Gus Robinson Developments starts work on multi-million pound Hartlepool scheme

Gus Robinson Developments has begun work on a multi-million pound scheme in Hartlepool, which will provide vital services with disabilities in the local community.

Appointed by Hartlepool Council, the North East development company is working on a Centre for Independent Living (CIL) on the site of the current Havelock Centre in the Burbank area of town.

The site was cleared for development earlier this summer, and various civic dignitaries from the local authority attended a ceremony to officially launch the work at the end of August.

Steve Bell, Managing Director at Gus Robinson Developments Ltd, said: “We are working very closely with Hartlepool Borough Council on this scheme, and we are delighted to be involved as it is a prestigious development.

“We have a long working relationship with the council having carried out a number of projects in conjunction with them over the years, and we hope that continues in the years to come.”

Councillor Carl Richardson, chair of the council’s Adult Services Committee and Gill Alexander, the council’s Chief Executive, were among local authority representatives to visit the site.

Coun Richardson said: “Despite the severe financial constraints being imposed on the council, we are still managing to secure investment in services and facilities by being creative and innovative.

“There’s no doubt that this facility will provide the very best services for people in our town with disabilities along with vital other facilities for the local community.

Work will be carried out until next spring, with Jimmy Hughes from Gus Robinson Developments Ltd overseeing the role as site manager.
