How to wear a suit with confidence
Appearance in business is important. Whether you are interviewing for a new job, meeting potential or existing clients, or just the day-to-day interactions around the office, your image and how you present yourself speaks volumes.
In a previous study, employers ranked grooming and interview attire as the two main factors to influence their opinion and decision on whether or not to hire a candidate. So making sure you look professional is key.
There is a strong link between appearance and confidence. And confidence goes a long way within business. Purchasing the perfect power suit is essential for confidence and assertion. Making sure you are purchasing the right suit and that it fits correctly is more difficult than you might have thought. Wearing ill-fitting suits is still common place due to men not knowing what to look out for and not spotting the signs of something that doesn’t fit when trying on suit jackets and trousers.
So how do you make sure you look sharp and are dressed the part?
The team over at Dobell have put together an informative and easy-to-read infographic, covering jackets, trousers, lapels, and ties! The infographic even advises what shoe to wear depending on the colour of your suit! These rules guide men on how to pick out and wear a suit like a pro!
These rules include…
- Jacket length – a suit jacket should cover most of the zip at the front of your trousers and all of your behind.
- How your shoulder of your jacket fits is one of the most important things to check. The seam should rest naturally on your shoulder and not move when you do.
- Your jacket collar should closely just below the collar of your shirt.
- The peak lapel will add some height by creating an elongating effect by moving the eyes upwards
