Leeds Bradford Airport set for busiest Bank Holiday ever
Leeds Bradford Airport is preparing for its busiest ever weekend over the Bank Holiday as passengers flock for a last minute summer holiday or weekend break.
With the record breaking number of passengers flying to over 40 destinations across 14 countries, the airport is preparing to see over 50k holidaymakers travel through the terminal.
Families escaping for a end of summer break are heading to Spain, Portugal, Canaries and Greece.
As for those searching for a last minute city break, Paris, Amsterdam, Budapest and Prague are the most popular choices.
As well as travelling abroad, the airport has also seen a rise in demand for flights across the UK to London, Belfast, Southampton and Scotland over the bank holiday weekend.
Along with the record number of outgoing passengers, the airport is also welcoming an increasing number of overseas visitors flying into the region to stay in Leeds, York, Harrogate and across Yorkshire.
Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford® Airports aviation development director said: “Leeds Bradford’s growth in passenger numbers continues to prove that Yorkshire holidaymakers and travellers want to fly close to home rather than having to risk traffic delays and congestion on the motorway network flying from other airports.
“With our wide choice of destinations and airlines linked to our continued investment in our passenger facilities we are increasingly becoming the first choice for travellers wishing to fly abroad on holiday or for a city break.”
