John Sisk & Son to develop over 300 homes in East Manchester
International building firm John Sisk & Son Ltd has been appointed by Manchester Life Development Company as the main contractor for the construction of hundreds of new homes in Manchester.
John Sisk & Son, which has an office in the city, will create 302 apartments on New Union Street, in the New Islington area.
The firm will be responsible for the first of six development sites within the initial phase of the Manchester Life scheme, which will see over 900 homes built, mostly for private rental, in the East Manchester area.
In July this year, planning permission was given for the redevelopment of the vacant New Union Street site, with the project including commercial units fronting the marina.
According to Manchester Life Development Company, John Sisk & Son was appointed for its “commitment to safety, sustainability and economic regeneration”, which the organisation believes aligns with its own goal to redevelop the New Islington and Ancoats areas of Manchester in a sustainable way.
Work is due to commence in October, with apartments ready for residents in two years’ time.
