Lancashire telecoms company makes Sunday Times’ top 100 tech firms list
Lancashire firm New Call Telecom has been named amongst the Sunday Times’ top 100 UK tech companies.
Burnley-based New Call Telecom, which operates a call centre in Nelson that employs more than 200 people, was yesterday (Sunday, September 6) ranked 53rd in the newspaper’s Hiscox Tech Track 100 list for 2015.
The company was the only firm in Lancashire to make the ranking and was also the highest placed provider of residential broadband and telecoms services on the list.
Nigel Eastwood, New Call Telecom’s CEO and founder, said: “We are delighted and very proud to be the only Lancashire company named in the Tech Track 100.
“It’s an incredible achievement. To be on this list as the top UK residential telecoms provider is testament to all our staff in Nelson and to the young apprentices we take on every year.”
New Call has experienced rapid UK growth since it was established in 2010. Recently, it acquired UK-based WaveCrest, a provider of voice services. New Call is also targeting expansion in India, where it has acquired mobile technology brand Nimbuzz and public WiFi provider Ozone Networks.
Nigel continued: “At New Call, we believe that people in the UK and the emerging world want services that are created for the way they lead their lives today.
“Unlike other companies, we don’t bundle packages together, trying to sell people things they don’t want; we offer real choice and flexibility.”
He added: “In India we create apps and mobile services that work with the infrastructure and connectivity challenges faced by users.”
Due to its ongoing expansion, New Call is now the Middle East’s second-biggest VoIP platform and South Asia’s third-largest premium ad platform behind Google and Facebook.
