Anfield stadium Main Stand redevelopment sees upper terrace take shape
Major upgrades to the Main Stand at Anfield stadium are progressing on schedule, with the new upper tier now visibly taking shape.
Redevelopment work has seen the first section of concrete terracing installed on the upper tier.
Once complete, the revamped Main Stand will comprise three tiers and the upper level alone will seat 7,500 Liverpool FC fans.
The next task for the construction team at Anfield will be to connect the existing portions of the stand to the new steel structure.
With the redevelopment work announced in December last year, the club is planning to add approximately 8,500 new seats, bringing the capacity of the Main Stand to more than 20k and boosting Anfield’s overall capacity to around 54k.
The club has confirmed that the expansion project is on track for completion during the 2016-2017 football season.
