New development creates local jobs in Newton Abbot
Work to create a new development in Newton Abbot is set to underpin jobs locally as well as provide homes for the local area.
Five star housebuilder Barratt Homes says that around 266 people will be involved in the construction and sales of the new Hawthorn Rise development– with most being local sub-contractors and tradesmen.
Sales director Sara Parker said that in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned in building the new homes, the people who move into the new housing will also spend their wages locally. “This translates into a significant boost for local retailers and it’s exactly what this area needs,’’ said Sara.
“We have seen demand for new homes expand very quickly over the last few months and the new site we are opening means that there will be more choice for local buyers,’’ said Sara.
Barratt Homes is set to build 133 new homes at Hawthorn Rise set to be in the heart of South Devon and providing easy access to Dartmoor and the whole of the South Devon coast.
A selection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes are planned for the development.
