Gateshead-based FLIP Sports has been selected to showcase its mobile sports app at a global football convention.
The first game release from FLIP Sports allows fans to play fantasy football on a mobile device while watching sport on TV.
Second screens are transforming how people are viewing TV. Nearly a third of users between 25 and 64 use their mobile devices to check sports scores while watching TV, according to figures from Nielsen.
Now the company has been recognised by the UK Trade and Investment for innovation in sport and has been selected to be promoted at the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester between 7-9 September.
Based in Gateshead International Business Centre, FLIP Sports is a dynamic mobile games studio that is innovating how fans enjoy and engage with live sport. The company has developed its first release, FLIP Sports Fantasy Football, a social mobile game that offers in-play fantasy competition during live matches, connecting fans across all devices all around the world - in real time.
Fantasy managers can go head-to-head or play in leagues; the challenge in each scenario lasts for the duration of the match and the winner is the manager with the most points at full-time.

He believes that with around five million fantasy sports players in the UK and 41 million in the US and Canada, there is great potential for FLIP Sports to add more sports over time. These include any sport where real-time data is available, such as cricket, basketball, American football and tennis.
