Fire damaged Armley Road site finally sold

Cushman & Wakefield has sold Hazel House on Armley Road in Leeds, which suffered extensive fire damage in a large fire in April 2014, while acting on behalf of its client Hazel 4D.

The blaze destroyed over 50,000 sq ft of warehousing facilities at the property. Hazel 4D had to relocate to new office premises and outsource their logistics operations to a third party logistics company.

The property, consisting of 13,800 sq ft on a site area of just over 2 acres, has been purchased by auto service specialist KD Bro’s, which will relocate the majority of its operations from its existing facility on Hope Road opposite Christopher Pratt’s Furniture store.

The sale is the second property on Armley Road that Cushman & Wakefield has sold on behalf of Hazel 4D within recent months, following the sale of the former John Peter’s unit to CW Plant Hire.

Scott Morrison, senior surveyor in the industrial and logistics team at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “It is great to see such a positive result for our client given the impact the fire had on the property and their business. We knew the site would be popular given the fantastic location within close proximity to the city centre and the current lack of industrial sites with such low building to site ratios in strategic locations in Leeds. We knew the property would suit a number of occupiers in the market as well as potential for redevelopment and we generated significant interest in the property which led to achieving a fantastic level on behalf of our client.”
