Charity to receive house sales boost
A Northamptonshire charity is set to enjoy a funding boost, courtesy of local house buyers.
Niamh’s Next Step, which supports families affected by child cancer, will receive a donation of £25 for every house sale completed at the new Harlestone Manor development in Northampton between now and Christmas.
The charity supports families affected by neuroblastoma and raises money to fund vital research and education programmes into this aggressive disease. It was founded in memory of five-year-old Niamh Curry, who was one of the 100 children to be diagnosed with neuroblastoma in the UK each year.
Niamh’s father Chris, the charity’s founder and chairman, visited Harlestone Manor to formally open the show home (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvJrf4JJeg0 ) and meet some of the Persimmon staff and customers who will contribute to the charity’s coffers.
He said: “Every single penny raised for Niamh’s Next Step will go directly towards helping other families fighting the rare and aggressive childhood cancer neuroblastoma and to fund vital research into neuroblastoma, which sadly receives no funding from the NHS or government at this time.
“I was really pleased to meet the Persimmon team at the Harlestone Manor development and be able to thank them personally for the support they are giving our charity. You can read more about Niamh’s Next Step at www.nns.org.uk “
Claire Davidson, head of sales at housebuilder Persimmon Homes Midlands, added: “Earlier this year we pledged to make Niamh’s Next Step the focus of our corporate and employee fundraising throughout 2015.
“This latest activity follows on from our senior project manager, Paul Carvey, undertaking the Brighton Marathon in April for the cause.
“Harlestone Manor is a much-anticipated new development of family homes and we expect the properties to be very popular with buyers, which should translate into a healthy donation for the charity. We look forward to handing over our fundraising total in the New Year.”
