Let’s Raise the Roof and Dance
In its anniversary year Burton on Trent roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is making its mark, putting the fun in fundraising holding a charity Zumba class recently.
Staff from its two Burton factories joined together to enjoy Zumba, a fun fitness class that has elements of dance and aerobics, the first in a series of fundraising activities for Help for Heroes in this, the company’s 50th anniversary year.
The Zumba was led by Russell Roof Tiles’ Customer Service Manager, Rachael Lancaster, who is an ex-aerobics instructor. Rachael says: “We all had a laugh dancing to Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ and I loved choreographing it. Many of the team came up with some interesting moves of their own!”
The company raised £700 for Help for Heroes, a charity that provides support services for men, women and their families who worked in the armed forces.
In the first half of the year, Russell Roof Tiles raised £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care through three events; a staff fun day in Lochmaben, a staff football match and a staff sponsored weight loss.
Andrew Hayward, managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, says: “It was great to see so many people attend Zumba class and having fun at the same time, all for a good cause.
“Help for Heroes is a brilliant charity and provides excellent services. Many of our staff have been touched by their willingness to help brave men and women on their road to recovery.”
Russell Roof Tiles was recently recognised for its excellence in manufacturing, winning an award for Large Manufacturer of the Year. The firm makes a range of concrete tiles and fittings and is UK’s third largest concrete roof tile manufacturer.
