Little books prove the secret to boosting business

BUSINESSES in Darlington town centre have netted almost £200,000, thanks to a bargain busting initiative.

Every quarter, Business Improvement District company Distinct Darlington issues a Little Book of Offers for shoppers, containing vouchers for discounts on purchases and services.

And figures show that the 12 editions printed since the scheme started, have generated £192,634.00 for the shops, salons, pubs and restaurants, which have taken part.

Each Little Book contains around 28 vouchers of offers, discounts and incentives from companies such as Quiz Clothing, at Cornmill Shopping Centre.

Assistant manager, Katie Shepherd, said: “The Little Book of Offers has definitely benefitted us.

“It’s a great way to gain publicity and it’s brought us to the attention of a whole new audience – we’ve had so much first time custom from it.

“The support Distinct Darlington gives the traders is brilliant and this initiative really has given us a welcome boost.”

“The Little Book of Offers has made an incredible impact,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington, formed to promote businesses through a variety of projects and encourage a clean, safe and welcoming town centre.

“Since the scheme started, the books have gathered a huge following with shoppers and businesses alike.

“It’s such a simple initiative but it has brought very real and tangible benefits as these figures show.”

The current edition is available until 31 October from the Box Office in Darlington’s Cornmill Centre and Dolphin Centre reception, or from town centre traders.
