SRF sign up with earthTV
Swiss broadcaster Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF) has signed a licensing agreement to utilise the earthtv Production System (EPS).
EPS is an automated show generator application, (created by earthTV) which can produce, plan, schedule and distribute programmes fully automatically with many options.
SRF will use EPS to flexibly create shows for short-term programming, using their own audiovisual material containing initially sports and music content. The plan is to use it later for further genres like entertainment and more. The system will be connected to the SRF broadcasting environment. Therefore a special customized version of the EPS will be adapted by earthTV.
The EPS user can fill a database with media files and can index (tag) and edit these. TV broadcasts with overlay, transitions and music files may be created (manually or automatically according to SRF’s scheduling needs via the planning system and an integrated connection to the editing system) from the content to be integrated in non-linear platforms at any given time with the help of the EPS. The technology framework is designed to allow a cloud operation.
“I would say we offer more variety, from the variety we can provide a more targeted content,” Claudius Lohmann, Managing Director of earthTV, explains. “Numerous program gaps will be closed with ‘automated’ content.”
According to Stefano Semeria (Head of Programming TV at SRF), “SRF will use EPS to automatically create shows with various lengths for short-term programming, using our own audiovisual material containing initially sports and music content. The plan is to use it later for further genres like entertainment or more”
