York estate agency Churchills celebrates 30th anniversary

Churchills, an independent York estate agency operated by two generations of its founding family, is celebrating 30 years in business.

The company, established by husband and wife team Bob and Sheila Webb in September 1985, has sold approximately 10,000 properties and let 1,500 properties in three decades.

Churchills’ first office opened on Bishopthorpe Road in September 1985, followed by an office on Gillygate in 1996 and on Front Street, Acomb in 2000.

Bob and Sheila’s son Kevin Webb joined Churchills in 1987 at the age of 19 and is now managing director of the company. Over the three decades, the company’s workforce has grown to 20 – with even third-generation family members providing support.

Kevin Webb, director at Churchills, said: “We’re proud of our reputation for helping to make the process of buying, selling and letting properties as stress free as possible so we’re thrilled to mark our 30th anniversary.”

“The York property market is the strongest it has ever been, beyond even the highs of 2007. In the late 1980s, property details were very basic, with many properties marketed with just an external photo. Now, with high-quality digital cameras, we’re able to produce property details with stunning internal and external photographs alongside clear, accurate floorplans.”
