Neill & Brown Global Logistics make £90k investment for rapid UK shipments

Neill & Brown Global Logistics has made a £90k investment in new facilities.

The new transit warehouse at the firm’s headquarters in Hessle, near Hull, has been developed following the success of its pallet business on behalf of United Pallet Network with which it has an exclusive deal in the Hull postcode area.

The 3,000 sq ft building has been custom made for Neill & Brown’s double-decker trailers and will house the loading and unloading of pallets bound for the UK and Ireland.

The new facility adds to Neill & Brown’s existing warehouse facilities in Hessle and at Hull’s Marfleet Environmental Technology Park which together currently exceed 200,000 sq ft.

Colin Moody, Neill & Brown’s managing director, said: “The new transit warehouse has been introduced following the success of our pallet business to improve control of the increasing number of pallets we are handling.

“We have taken on an extra three staff over the last two years in order to fulfill the increase in this business, and the warehouse will ensure that we continue to fulfill the work professionally and efficiently.

“We have made significant investments in our facilities, fleet, technology and employees over the last five years will continue to do so to maintain our growth.”

Constructed by Hull firm Geoff Barber Construction Ltd, the warehouse will handle anything from shipments of single pallets to multi-pallet consignments for next day and economy deliveries.

It can cope with up to 200 pallets a night, which are taken to the United Pallet Network hub at Fradley Park, Lichfield.

The pallet business is one of a full suite of logistics services offered by Neill & Brown, which include UK and European transport, global shipping, abnormal loads, warehousing and pick & pack.

The firm now employs more than 130 staff, and is a family owned business that will celebrate its centenary in 2017.

Last year unveiled a new £2.5m, 40,000sq ft international warehouse at Marfleet Environmental Technology Park on Hedon Road, east Hull. This followed an earlier investment at the site in 2011, when the firm joined forces with chemical company Nippon Gohsei to develop a facility for the storage and distribution of the company’s Soarnol product around Europe.

Neill & Brown was the first company to sign up as a business sponsor as part of the Hull’s City of Culture bid.
