The world is your oyster
~~More than 2000 oysters are on their way to the North East from all corners of the UK, for what promises to be the biggest business networking opportunity of the year. On Friday September 25 the annual North East Oyster Festival is moving for the first time out of County Durham to Newcastle, to a specially erected marquee in the Rugby World Cup Fanzone, at Science Central, Newcastle. Along long with a programme of packed entertainment, a Fruit De Mer banquet and complimentary wine and beer throughout the day, guests will be able to enjoy the finest oysters the country has to offer. Six different varieties of the premium sea food will be available, from across Scotland and Ireland along with being sourced from closer to home – from Lindisfarne. And there are still a handful of tables available for business people wanting to enjoy the ultimate corporate day out. This is the first time in its 12 year history that the event has moved out of the grounds of Sedgefield’s Hardwick Hall Hotel, brought North to coincide with the city’s hosting of the Rugby World Cup. The day is being hosted by top comedian Al Murray, with performances by legendary Motown act Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, the world’s leading bagpipe band, Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Celtic party bands, Dublin Raiders and the JJ Galway Band. “This is always a massively popular event and its combines the opportunity for some great business networking with some fantastic entertainment and the chance to enjoy the finest seafood,” said John Adamson, Director of Ramside Estates which organises the event. “It’s going to be an amazing event and we are virtually at capacity so anyone who is still thinking about attending needs to get in touch fast.” The event will also be raising funds for Marie Curie, which supports people and families who are coping with a terminal illness. Tickets for the 12th annual North East Oyster Festival, in association with MTREC recruitment and training, are priced at £150 + VAT.
