Apprentice to career in customer services

We all hear how important apprenticeships are to businesses throughout the UK and that is especially true here in the North East. Apprenticeships are also vital to those seeking a start in the workplace or those looking to change their career direction.

Sarah Howells began an administration apprenticeship in September 2014 with Executype PA Limited, a Company offering administration, call answering and virtual office services. Sarah has now successfully completed her apprenticeship and is continuing her employment with the Company, pursuing a career in customer service.

Sarah’s apprenticeship was arranged through Newcastle based Key Training Ltd. Key Training state “taking on an apprentice can be a great way to help your business grow and at the same time provide a way for a young person to earn a real wage, in a real job whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification. We are proud of Sarah for completing her apprenticeship and we wish her the best in her new career.”

Carol Charlton, Director at Executype PA Ltd, said “It has been a great pleasure to work with Sarah over the last year and to see her flourish in the job role of administrator. Sarah has excelled in customer service which is paramount to the continued success of our business. Having Sarah on-board has allowed the business to grow and diversify. The call answering service the Company offers has grown by 60% in the past year and as a result we are now able to offer call answering as a 24/7 service.”

Sarah said “Since starting my apprenticeship I have learnt such a lot from telephone etiquette, communications and administration. The work is so varied especially because of the diverse group of clients that use the services we offer. I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone looking for an alternative to sixth form or college, it really has been a great experience.”

An excellent example indeed of how apprenticeships are helping to grow businesses and create jobs in the North East.
