Yorkshire Pubs Pull Together For Cask Ale Week

Fresh from claiming a national Great British Pub Award, the Yorkshire-based pub group Ainsty Inns, is celebrating Cask Ale Week by offering exceptional local ales to its customers.

The nationally celebrated event, which runs from Thursday 24th October – Sunday 4th October and is organised the non-profit organisation, Cask Marque, will showcase Ainsty Inns’ ‘Committed to Cask’ ethos which ensures cask ales are locally sourced from within a 25 mile radius of each pub in the group.

The award-winning pub group which includes The Chequers Inn in Bilton-in-Ainsty, The Swan and Talbot in Wetherby and The Beehive in Thorner, has laid out plans to exhibit some of the finest local ales available.

The Chequers Inn and The Swan and Talbot will both be popularising traditionally crafted beers by allowing customers to vote for their favourite ale, determining which beer will be next on the pump.

Alongside this, customers will also have the chance to taste traditionally brewed ales in the form of beer flights - a selection of three third pint measures, each containing a different sample ale.

The pubs will also be putting a twist on conventional food and drink pairings by specially selecting different ales to go with the food menus on offer across the Ainsty Inns Group.

Opportunist punters may also claim a free pint at The Chequers Inn and The Beehive by downloading the Punch Taverns app. They will have to be quick however as a limited 72 pints are being given away at each pub.

Owner of Ainsty Inns, Antony Pratt said: “Cask Ale Week is the perfect way to show-off the fantastic range of local ales we stock.

“This year we’ve tried to make it as fun and interactive as possible to get more people to sample a proper Yorkshire pint!”

Ainsty Inns has partnered local suppliers and is offering cask ale produced by Yorkshire brewers including Rudgate Brewery in York, Theakstons of Masham, Timothy Taylor’s in Keighley, Rooster’s in Knaresborough and Ainsty Ales in Copmanthorpe, York.

“We have been inspired by Antony’s exciting plans for his pubs and are organising our very own ‘Coptober Fest’ at St. Giles Church in Copmanthorpe on 16-17 October.”

If ale isn’t the tipple of choice, The Chequers Inn, Ainsty inns’ flagship pub, has recently been announced as the national winner in the ‘Best Wine Bar/Pub’ at the 2015 Great British Pub Awards organised by The Publican’s Morning Advertiser. Alongside this, the York-based pub is also one of six finalists in the ‘Yorkshire Pub of the Year’ category in the White Rose Awards, the UK’s largest celebration of tourism, organised by Welcome to Yorkshire.

All Ainsty Inns’ pubs stock the same wines and have identical wine lists.
