Jon reunites with first love thanks to new lawn care business

A former greenkeeper and horticulturalist has returned to his previous life after almost a decade away from the industry by taking on the Hitchin franchise of leading lawn care company Lawnrite.

Jon Boon, who lives in nearby Sandy with his wife and three-year old son, left the outdoor life behind to work in a Toyota dealership after keeping the greens of his local golf course spic and span for four years, found the lure of returning to the world of lawns impossible to resist after hearing about the opportunity available with Lawnrite.

And Jon is relishing the chance to use his green keeping skills to help homeowners around Hitchin, Letchworth and Biggleswade achieve beautiful green, healthy lawns.

“I’ve always had a passion for looking after lawns and being around grass is where I’ve always felt the most happy,” said Jon.

“After seven years working in an office, I realised that type of working environment wasn’t for me and I yearned to get back doing what I’ve always loved. So when I saw Lawnrite was looking for new franchisees, I decided to go and have a look at what they were all about.”

Jon went to one of Lawnrite’s open days, and made the decision to take the plunge after he liked what he saw.

“I’d looked at a few other franchises but it was Lawnrite that appealed to me the most as it offered the best package for both the franchisee and the customer which none of the others did. And Jeff, the MD, has an enormous wealth of experience in the lawn care industry and knows how to help me make my business a success, which is really important, particularly when I’m just starting out,” he added.

Launched in 2014, Lawnrite is a national franchise network of lawn care businesses dedicated to looking after lawns throughout the UK. It offers customers five treatments a year, including weed and moss control, aeration and scarification, and prices start as low as £7 a month for an average sized lawn.
