Teenager returns to nursery roots for career inspiration

You know you are getter older when the nursery teachers start to look younger – as reinforced when Happy Jays Nursery at Clifton Moor provided a work experience placement for former attendee and Year 11 pupil Alisia Morse.

Fifteen year old Alisia, who goes to Barlby High school, first attended Happy Jays some thirteen years ago and is considering a career working with young children.

Alisia enjoyed her placement at the nursery where she was closely supervised by other staff. She said: “I’m really pleased to return to Happy Jays and see the children having fun whilst they play and learn, just as I did when I was their age; it’s been really special.”

Nursery manager, Gemma Cobb, commented: “I remember looking after Alisia when she was a baby and watching her grow and develop into a confident and bright toddler. Seeing her now as a young woman and hearing about her future aspirations makes me feel so proud of what she has achieved. It’s the reason why we provide such an excellent foundation for children when they come to Happy Jays.”

Alisia’s mother, Jo said, “It doesn’t seem five minutes since both of my children attended Happy Jays and walking through the doors again took me back to the happy memories of when they were babies and toddlers.”

Happy Jays is ranked ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and provides care for children from 3 months old up to 5 years of age.
