Boohoo.com grows its UK business by 30%
Online fashion retailer Boohoo.com has seen its profits and revenues rise in the first half of 2015, growing its UK business by 30%.
For the six months to August 31, the Manchester-headquartered firm reported a pre-tax profit of £6.3m, a year-on-year increase of 39%, while its operating profit in the period rose by 38% to £5.98m.
The UK remained Boohoo’s core market. Of the company’s £90.8m revenue during the period, just over £59k came from the UK, while the rest of Europe generated £10.4m and the rest of the world around £21.3m.
Carol Kane and Mahmud Kamani, the firm’s joint CEOs, commented: “We are pleased to report a successful first half, with strong revenue growth driven by acquiring new customers through our investments in price, promotions and marketing spend.
“We continue to invest in our brand internationally and our strategy to focus on key markets where we see the greatest growth potential remains unchanged.”
In the 12 months to August 31, Boohoo served 3.5m customers online, which represents a year-on-year increase of 32%. Similarly, overall website traffic was up 27%, hitting 182m sessions.
The firm’s CEOs continued: “The autumn/winter marketing campaign #WeAreNow is supporting a good start to the second half. We are also pleased with the response to our new app and responsive websites and will continue to invest in building customer value and market reach in the second half of the year.”
